Guy Fieri Grillin’ For Greatness | Greg Betza

Guy Fieri Grillin’ For Greatness

I’ve always been a fan of Guy Fieri, so I was thrilled to get a call to do some illustrations for his Miller Lite Grillin’ For Greatness campaign. Again, I was asked to draw a stadium! First, NBC Sports calls for the Stadium Series and soon after, Guy. The theme behind the stadium imagery is that his recipes (and Miller Lite) can be used during your tailgating parties this football season. Overall a fun project to work on. Here are the illustrations and the final print ads. #grillwithguy

BP Team USA Commercial

Happy 4th of July! In the spirit of the day, I’d like to share a job I worked on for BP’s (Beyond Petroleum) Team USA campaign. Late last year I was called to do work on some storyboards for a film production house out in Brooklyn. When you do this type of job,  you never really know if what you draw will see the light of day. So you can imagine how thrilling it was to see my drawings come to life on TV this past week. The commercials for the BP Team USA campaign have begun airing as the 2012 London Olympics approach. I’ve spent some time today watching the videos and profiles of the athletes, and their compelling stories made me a proud supporter of their goals. I wish them and Team USA all the best this summer.

Here are a few drawings and their corresponding live action shots:

Last December I was contacted by Carmichael Lynch to be 1 of 7 illustrators contributing toward a custom promotional booklet announcing the launch of the Harley Davidson Dark Custom Motorcycle. The art producer on the project, Andrea Mariash, has recently posted the job to her weblog, and I thought it would be a great time to show the drawings. It was an interesting assignment, a new one for me. I was asked to act as a biker, out on the road, doodling (with ballpoint pen) in his little black book. It was interesting to be asked to do what I would do if I was someone else. The first illustration is the road snaking into a dragon or serpent, and the second, a night on the town with the Dark Custom. Anyway, I’m happy with the illustrations, and I’d love to hear what you think.
