Investment Advisor

I’m really pleased to share this series I illustrated for Investment Advisor magazine. The topic is heavy, depression and suicide among retired men, and I wanted the illustrations to carry that kind of weight as well. I decided to use textured, somewhat “messy” backgrounds with shaky graphic lines, and slightly uncomfortable designs for the figures…hopefully to give a sense of the topic. I love how everything turned out, and I appreciate the client allowing me total creative freedom on this one.

I knew so little about kale, actually nothing, until I moved back upstate and joined a local CSA. I grew to love it, sorry, I didn’t really intend for the pun, and enjoy it in plenty of dishes. But by far my favorite turned out to be a local entrepreneurs kale chips and pesto. You forget how good they are for you. A healthy snack is great to have on hand late at night. She brought the chips to market and asked me to work on the logo for the package. I found a bag, empty unfortunately, while cleaning up the other day.
